Enslaved Hermit
-[published in the Spring 2001 issue of the Teen Ink Poetry Journal.]-

I lie here
Because you lied to me
Just tell the truth
And you will see
That this is not just
Let honest things be

You have me trapped
Alone in this place
My apartment
Wiping tears from my face
I feel sorrow
Yet you are the disgrace

What am I to do?
When you are dishonest
How do I continue?
Your lies started this mess
So take back everything
And I'll forget the rest

Forgive you I shall
Because I dont really care
I'm in love with you
I dont know what is fair
You see me vulnerable
As I walk in my underwear

You don't deserve
What I have given you
And you don't realize
That all I've said is true
Why can't you act
The way that I do?

I am inferior
You are the one
I stay and yearn for you
A hermit has no fun
If I were normal
Then I would run

But that's not me
I'm not sane
I'd rather be here
And take this pain
You've captured my heart
And destroyed my brain

I
-[ published in the Winter 2001 issue of the Teen Ink Poetry Journal. thanks Teen Ink. ]-

In a sense
Innocence
Is a figment of your imagination
It varies upon your interpretation
I insist that it is for your station

In a decision
Indecision
Invariably will suffice us
Initially what we can't trust
If we'll survive have it we must

Independence
In dependence
It is something upon which we rely
Ill-fated until we die
Is it what the Founding Fathers had to try?

And I
I am left standing in this stable
If I could move I would be able
Is it time to clear the table?
I think we've lived too long a fable

And I
I am left standing in this stable
If I could move I would be able
Is it time to clear the table?
I think we've lived too long a fable

Son-god
-[published in the April 2001 issue of Teen Ink.]-

Most of my life
I wasted as a kid
I have regrets
For many things I did

I don't like
Who I have become
All this shall be changed
By you, my son

You will bring honor
To the family name
It is now your duty
To erase my shame

Son you're going to be a god
Daddy, please no!
I said you're going to be a god
But Daddy, I can't!

Listen to me
You son of a b--ch
Something you wouldn't be
If family was something you could switch

I am sorry
I have remorse
Now I'm ordering you
To carry out your chores

Why won't you listen to me?
It's because of me that you're here
I am your father
So lend me an ear

You can do what you want to
You'll be the right in my voice
You can do what you want to
And you have no choice

Son you're going to be a god
Daddy, please no!
I said you're going to be a god
But Daddy, I can't!

I don't think you understand
What's there to comprehend?
You will bring me forward
Once my life comes to an end

The world is full of problems
My father said the blame was mine
Now you have the cure
Just be divine

Don't disobey me
You have no right
I'm allowing you to do everything
Stop putting up a fight

Ultimately, you can choose
Anyone's destiny
But at the end of the day
Everything you do must get past me

Son you're going to be a god
Daddy, please no!
I said you're going to be a god
But Daddy, I can't!

I cannot tolerate
All of your insolence
My father never encouraged me
I've wanted to reverse it ever since

Now I'm offering you
Worlds of opportunity
Follow my orders
I demand that you honor me

Son you're going to be a god
Daddy, please no!
I said you're going to be a god
But Daddy, I can't!
